Yea, I know it’s only October and winter is still a whole season away but it’s definitely not too soon to think about for planning your sweet sixteen birthday party if you are going to be holding it in December or January.
Many of you that love the idea of dressing up will love this idea of a winter white ball and so will your friends! This is like taking the P-Diddy all white party that would normally be for spring/summer months and making it even more special for those of you born in the winter.
For a winter ball theme, think snowflakes, snow…a black and white affair!

You could change this theme up even further by making it a masquerade black and white ball theme or an all white party!
Venue
You will need a place large enough to accommodate a small dance floor since dancing will be the majority of your entertainment. Teens in formal gowns and suits are not likely to participate in real physical type party games so just count on the dancing and any dance themed games to entertain your guests with. A good DJ will have some great dancing party game ideas.
If you are a member of a church, ask the church about renting out a hall if you have one at your church building or even the youth/highschool room, or anywhere that has enough space for your party.
You could rent out a small restaurant’s patio section and host it outdoors as long as it is enclosed and they provide patio heating!
Another option is a clubhouse rental such as a golf course clubhouse or a local community center.
Food
You are probably going to have to budget for the majority of your cost going to food since it is a formal theme you can’t just get away with coke and pizza. Your guests spent some money on their attire so expect to treat them well for the evening. Look into having your event catered to serve a formal menu plan such as the following:
Appetizers:
Shrimp cocktail
Cheese spread with crackers
Salad:
Caesar salad
Soup:
Cheddar Baked Potato
Main Course:
Chicken & pasta in sundried tomatoes and cream
or Italian breaded pork chops
Sides:
wild rice, roasted herb mashed potatoes, angel hair pasta with w/ Parmesan cheese
Veggies:
Tri-vegetable medley, or Italian green beans
You don’t have to worry about supplying desserts since you will be having a sweet 16 birthday cake. Just make sure your cake is formal to suit your theme.
Decor
Since you are going with a real formal theme, you will want to have black or white covered tables or both! Take a white table cloth and place a place a black and white print table runner on it or just a black runner to contrast the white.

Decorate the table with small vases of pink roses with candle votives around it. There is so much you can do here to formalize your table settings without spending too much money.
