Sweet Sixteen Planning – So You Think You Can Dance Theme
Sorry I haven’t updated this blog in awhile. I have beenĀ rather busy lately but anyhow I just thought of a new theme today. Now I know that dancing can be intimidating for teens. You know the whole awkwardness of first dances where the guys stand on one side of the gym checking out the girls while the girls are on the other side telling one another how amazing they look in their evening gowns?!
For sweet sixteen planning, you want to have something to engage your guests so that they have a good time as well as the birthday girl. Why not have a dance party? I am not talking about having an actual dance-off or anything but why not hire a team of dancers to teach your guests how to dance. You could always hire dancers that can teach a specific type of dance such as swing, salsa or even hula dancing. Personally I think you are more likely to have a goof co-ed turn out with swing or salsa dance lessons because even the guys will think this is fun. Guys are always eager to learn a dance if it involves getting paired up with a cute girl.
Swing dancing and salsa dancing will also give parents peace of mind that there won’t be any funny business either. With professional dancers walking around and everyone participating, you won’t have to worry about teens up to no good with “freak dancing” or anything. (My 14 year old nephew went to a dance a few weeks back and came home to tell his mom that yes, some girls were trying to “freak” him.)
Of course the fun part of a salsa or swing theme is dressing the part!
There are so many great dresses and looks you can go for with these themes too. Start planning!
