Sweet Sixteen Masquerade Ball Theme

Throw an old fashioned Masquerade Ball.
Is it a little creepy? Yes.
Is it unique? Yes.
Will your guests remember this sweet 16 party as the best party ever? Heck yea!

Attire:
Make sure that masks are required in order to enter the party, that way you get everyone to particpate. You may also want to purchase some party masks to set by the door should some guests forget one.

Classic attire is appropriate. Think dresses you would wear to a prom when shopping for your dress. Encourage your guests to be in full character costumes while avoiding the Halloween monster tip of costumes.

Food:
You can make this simple with platters containing sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fruit and offer a chocolate fondue fountain with rice crispy bites, slicked bananas, strawberries and snicker bites.

Or have it catered and pick foods your guests will enjoy such as chicken and pasta dishes and Italian dishes.

Entertainment:
Have a contest for the person who can keep their mask on the longest for the evening.

Hire a DJ for dancing of course!

Plan a Murder Mystery Game and leave clues for your guests to discover who the murderer at the ball is.

Oh a medieval masquerade ball sounds fun! Since you are turning 21, you could really get your guests involved. They will be more likely to take the theme seriously and put together the proper attire.

You definitely will need a dance floor so I would look into renting out some sort of hall or room. as mentioned before, a community center like at a park would be a great venue.

As far as entertainment goes, if your friends would be up for it you could hire a ballroom dance instructor. Even if she came in for just an hour to give a quick lesson. I think they guys might be put off of it at first but since they will be in costume with masks on, they can buck up. lol If you did hire an instructor, i would have her come about 30-40 minutes after your party starts, that way you leave enough time for the late guests to arrive for the lesson.

Hi! OK, so I’ve looked everywhere for plans for my 13th Birthday masquerade party that I’m throwing next weekend, so far, this is the best, but I still need a couple of pointers. The party is gonna be in my backyard with lights hung on all the trees and two buffet tables set out. Only the girls are gonna be wearing masks, which are being provided. Since my friends and I are only 13, I’m afraid that the guys will get really bored with just dancing… Any suggestions on what else we can do?
    Thank you sooo much! :)

    Hi Becca,
Boys will get bored easily. I think you need to incorporate some kind of fun games for them like Balloon Truth or Dare.

    Items needed:
    10 Balloons
    pens wot write with
10 index cards that are cut in half (so a total of 20 cards)

How to play: write 10 truths and 10 dares on the index cards. Place 1 card in each ballloon and blow them up. To start the game, a player picks a balloon and pops it, then reads the truth or dare and the game goes on from there.

Okay, so i am planning a super sweet 16 with my two best friends. All three of us will be the hosts. We want to do a Murder Mystery Game, but don’t have any ideas. And we would rather not buy any ‘packages’. Is there any websites telling you how to set one up or do you have any ideas? thanks :D
