Sweet Sixteen Grease 50′s Theme

in Ideas and Themes

This is a great way to relive the 50′s and there are plenty of ways to incorporate this theme into your party. This is the Ideal theme for a co-ed theme.

Grease – Go Grease Lightning

Where to have it:
See about renting out the high-school gym or some sort of recreation hall to give that old time “rock n’ roll” feel

Attire
Make the invites specify the theme and encourage the guests to dress the part. The signature slicked back hair for men and women can sport pony tails with puff balls attached to the pony tail holder. The guys can wear white T-shirts and jeans rolled at the body to display their black loafers or black converse.

Girls can wear poodle skirts with saddle shoes or fitted knit pants with a blouse tucked in and a scarf tied around the neck. Also the bowler outfit is a cute idea (see picture below). Check out some of these cool costume ideas and accessories for 50′s costumes at Costume Discounters.

Music
Hire a DJ that has some music from the 50′s but it’s a good idea to mix in today’s music as well

50′s Food Ideas
It’s gotta be diner style. Make it burgers, fries, soda and milk-shakes. Finger foods are ideal and make for a quick and easy preparation. Of course you can never go wrong with pizza and soda!

50′s Party Games
Buy some hula-hoops and have hula-hooping contest. How about a dance off in which participants have to enter the contest as pairs?

sweet sixteen 50's party theme tricycle racing

How about a Grease Lightning race? Not a real car race of course but what about making it even more hilarious for the teens by making them race on tricycles??? Yup, you heard me right, tricycles!!! This game could be pretty cheap to buy the supplies for and can be done with either 2 people racing at once or depending on how many guests you have, all of your guests at once.
