Sweet 16 Birthday Party: Survivor Challenge Games
These are some great party game ideas for hosting a sweet sixteen birthday party. You don’t necessarily have to be having a Survivor themed party to do them.

They are great for any them. They help get your guests involved are just plain fun to participate in and watch.
You will want to purchase some party necklaces of some sort. With each game there will be a winner and the winner will earn a necklace. After all games are completed. You can give a prize to the person who has the most necklaces and then a 2nd and 3rd place winner as well.
Tug of war
This is a good ice breaker into the events. Split your guests into 2 or 4 teams and have tug of war battles. Just make a dividing line in which the winning team will need to make the losing team cross over. Make sure to place the line on the ground within about 3 feet of space away from the first person on the rope.
Soak Up and Collect
Supplies needed:
- 12 cheap kitchen sponges
- 1 bowl for each team that has a red or black fill line marked line marked on them.
(You want the goal to be to collect about 2-3 cups of water so make sure you fill your bowl with the desired amount of water you want collect first, then mark the line to use at the party.) - 1 bucket for each team that has water filled in it
Split teams up so that there are an even amount of people by the bucket that has the water and sponges nearby. The rest of their team members are at the opposite end which about 15 feet distance and they have the bowl with the marked line.
Set a timer for 1 minute and blow a whistle. To start the game, the halves of the teams with the bucket of water and sponges soak up a sponge and toss it to their other team half, which will then catch the sponge and “wring” it out over their bowl with the line, trying to fill the water to that line as quickly as possible. After they wring it out they can then attempt to toss it back to their team that has the bucket of water to be resoaked and then retossed.
Relay Races
Have teams pass a tiki idol that you can purchase from a party store
Freeze your socks off
Supplies
- 2 large party drink tubs (metal or plastic)
- Several bags of ice
- 2 bags of marbles
Place 25 marbles in each tub and pour the ice on top. Teams must remove socks and shoes and use only their feet to pick up a marble and place it outside of the tub and into a bowl that is sitting beside them. The first team to have all 25 marbles out of the ice tub and into the bowl wins.
Sand Word Challenge
Supplies
- Buy 2 bags of play sand (about $6-10)
- 2 empty and dry buckets
- Plastic letters like the magnetized cheap preschooler ones (You may need 2-3 sets depending on vowels and letter needed for your phrases.)
- Use either a white board, poster board or huge blank note pad(like the ones used for drawing that can be placed on an easel but an easel is not necessary. These can be laid down on the ground.)
Beforehand, come up with 2 different phrases, movie titles, tv title or whatever you want and let the teams have a hint such as “This is the name of a movie”.
On each team’s poster board you would have a bunch of letters missing so that they cannot easily answer it by looking at it. Start off with maybe 2-3 letters on the puzzle.
Example: the movie title is: Over Her Dead Body
O _ _ _
_ _ _
d _ _ __ _ _ y
Then have 1 team member dig through their sand bucket and they may only pull out one plastic letter at a time. They would then take their letter to the board and as a team; try to figure out where in the puzzle it would go. try to make it so each team member gets a chance to dig in teh sand unless they want to opt out and only help with the puzzle solving. The first team to figure out their puzzle wins.
Bugs!
Yep, you guessed it. How could you have a survivor them party without bug eating?! They must eat bugs. Hold on! before you, yourself say no way, there are actual chocolate covered grasshoppers etc that you can purchase and they are quite tasty. But in order to eat them, your guests will have to overcome their fear of tasting the bugs.

wow cool! hey im doing a surviver party im giving losers chocolates coverd grass hoppers and what little chocolates should the winners get? there is also 3 on a team. were is a place you can get chocolate coverd grass hoppers? (in puyallup)?
i have an idea its very fun to do and pretty quick first you get a paper and set it up with who do u think is smartest and most honest then write a column of boxs for each question and on top of boxs write peoples names like say bob and bill then say u think bob is most honest then u would check off that box and each player would do the same questions and do what they think then someone would total up the amount of points of who got the most checks per question then the people who answered the questions would guess whos name came up the most and they will be givin a card with each name on it and thats how they would guesss what name came up the most and the one with the most correct answers win
