Make Your Own Mask For Your Sweet Sixteen Masquerade Ball

in Ideas and Themes

Masks for Masquerade Balls can be quite expensive. Anywhere from $50.00 up to $200.00. You can make your own mask for as low as $20.00.

Supplies Needed:

  • Purchase an unfinished mask. It should be made of paper mache and cost between $6.00-$13.00. Look for a mask that has “cat eyes” for ladies. Masks for men cover their foreheads.
  • Wooden Dole about 10″ long and about 1/2″-3/4″ inch in diameter.
  • Metallic paints that are shiny or glossy when dried. Metallic spray paint is also ideal.
  • Colored feathers
  • Sequins or rhinestones
  • Ribbons to use either draped on the sides of the mask or also to tie the mask on should you choose to fasten your mask on instead of using a dole.
  • Hot Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Make your mask:

1.) Paint your mask with whatever patterns you choose and then paint the wooden dole to match.

2.) Glue sequins or rhinestones on the mask

3.) Glue feathers on the back side of the mask. Make sure they are placed in a manner where they do not poke your face or obstruct your vision.

    4.) Glue your ribbons on.

    Viola! Instant gorgeous unique mask!

Where are these ball masks from? is there any way to buy them? are they premade and available for purchase somewhere or did you make them for this post?
