Who can forget the beloved “Brat Pack”, Madonna’s “Like a Virgin” and TV shows like “The Knight Rider”?! Even teens today know most rock and pop music form the 80′s.
The 80′s theme has made quite a popular sweet sixteen theme in the past few years. It’s fun to put together a funky outfit and see how your friends dress up as well. So get that Aquanet hairspray out, your lace gloves and tights on and get ready for a Totally 80′s Sweet Sixteen Birthday Bash!
Venue:
Can be held anywhere. At home, a restaurant, nightclub or a clubhouse.
Attire:
Just head to some thrift shops to throw your attire together. Guests will really get into this theme since it will be fun to plan and cost effective. It will be exciting to see all the creativity that will flourish from your guests.
Entertainment:
Hire a DJ and make certain he has 80′s hits. If you want to make it low key, you could have some Brat pack movies playing in the background such as “Sixteen candles”, “Pretty In Pink”, “The Breakfast Club”, “St. Elmo’s Fire”, “The Outsiders” and “Betsy’s Wedding”.
The icing on the cake for this theme would be Karaoke. You can either hire a “KJ” (karaoke Disc Jockey) or purchase a karaoke kit with 80′s DVDs.
Food:
Pizza can be the ideal satisfying food for this theme. If you can locate Crush soda, candy necklaces and ring pops, then you will be flowing right into the 80′s theme.
The Cake:
Your cake can get very creative here. Miley Cyrus did an “I Love The 80′s” theme for her 17th birthday and her cake was well designed with a mixture of zebra prints, acid wash and 80′s rock. You don’t have to do an exact copy of her cake but at least it’s something to go off.
