Anime Cosplay Theme for Sweet Sixteen

The Cosplay theme can be a fun theme for cartoon, anime, sci-fi and comic lovers (manga). It’s a fun way to dress up as your favorite character and have a blast with other characters. Guests can group up and pull off complimenting characters from the same shows or they can just be unique individuals.

Cosplay isn’t just for Japanese culture. Cosplay is also pretty big here in the US too.

This theme can also be budget friendly. Your major costs are really from the fabrics and accessories to create your cosplay outfit.

Venue

Host it in your home unless you need more room, then consider renting a hall.

Food

You can do whatever is easiest for you and the birthday boy/girl. You can go with pizza, coke and munchies or you can lay out a full Japanese food buffet table complete with miso, noodles, dorayaki, pocky and hopposai.

Entertainment

You can hire magicians or any other amusing entertainment. A DJ is probably a good idea too.

Award the best costume. Let your guests know before hand that there will be a prize for the best costume. This will encourage your guests to get really creative and dress up. I would also put it on the invitation that you must be in costume in order to enter. They don’t have to spend a lot of money on their outfit, they just need to get creative.

Have anime playing a a big screen.

Decor

Buy anime and manga posters to decorate throughout the room. Some posters you can purchase could be Cowboy Bebop and Inuyasha.
